Pastoral Associate

As pastoral associate, or lay ecclesial minister, Mary is responsible for Baptism preparation classes for young parents in English, Confirmation preparation for youth and adults, and adult faith formation opportunities. She also coordinates and trains Extraordinary Ministers of Communion and Lectors for the parish, and helps families planning funeral liturgies at St. Joseph, as well as working on fundraising, social events, and other activities around the parish.

Mary has been involved in various aspects of parish work in the Diocese of Metuchen for over 15 years, and has studied theology, liturgy, catechesis, and other topics through the Diocese and online through the University of Dayton (a Catholic College sponsored by the Marianists).

“It is an honor for me to be able to serve here at the parish of St. Joseph as a pastoral associate. I look forward to traveling with you forward in faith.”

Carol Pawlowski

RCIA Leader

Carol has been a parishioner since 1989 and the leader of the Rite of Christian Initiation since 2005. She has been a nurse for 27 years and is currently working towards a Certificate in Pastoral Ministry.

The Rite is a two year process. Carol and her team accompany the candidates on their journey of faith to know God’s love for them. “This is not a process to teach the rules. I hope to help them to know Jesus Christ and see how much God loves them. Faith cannot be taught. It is caught.”

Carol moved to Hillsborough several years ago, but she continues to be a parishioner at St. Joe’s because of all the support she felt when she first came to the parish as a single mother of two boys.

Katie Frame

Parish Catechetical Leader

Katie came to St. Joseph’s with a background in bi-lingual early education. As the parish Catechetical leader, she sees her role as accompanying our children on their faith journey and giving them practical skills, not just in church, but in their daily lives. She wants the faith formation experience to be a place where children feel safe, comfortable, and where they fit in.

When asked why her family chose St. Joseph’s as their parish, she said, “The people here are very welcoming and supportive. My second child was born early and there were some complications. People that we didn’t even know came out of the woodwork to lend their support.

Fr. George Farrell

Pastor

Father George was born and raised in Philadelphia. He was a teacher and a parish director of music before entering the Seminary. Bishop Paul Bootkoski appointed Father George pastor of St. Joseph’s in 2008.

“I love being a priest and I love being the pastor of St. Joseph’s. I want people to feel that our beautiful church is their spiritual home where God speaks to them. The parish belongs to all of us. Everyone has gifts and I would like to see each one of you use those gifts to strengthen our community and to help pass the gift of our faith on to our children.”

“I would like St. Joseph’s to be the parish that other parishes will look to and feel they want to be like us. Most importantly, I want people to know they are welcome whether they are long time parishioners or Catholics who have not been to church in a long time or anyone not familiar with our faith who would like to have some questions answered. Call me. I would like to get to know you.”
